How do we pay for care?
Most families use private pay, long-term care insurance, or VA benefits through the Community Care Network. We will tell you which options apply to your situation during the free evaluation, before you commit to anything.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
No. Task-based well checks have no minimum and a flat rate, and hourly care can be as light or as extensive as you need, up to 24-hour and live-in coverage.
How quickly can care start?
In many cases, we can start within hours. Our entire administrative staff is also cross trained to provide care and in emergency cases, we will start the case with an administrator while we find the right fit moving forward! Full and consistent coverage is usually achieved within a day to two days depending on the length, location, and skills required. Call us and we will tell you honestly what we can staff.
Who are your caregivers?
Every Avara caregiver is our own employee, not a contractor. All are trained, supervised by our care team, and hold a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and current First Aid/CPR certification. Many also hold CNA, Certified Caregiver or DCW certification, with added training in dementia, Parkinson's and post-stroke care. Avara is licensed, bonded and insured, so you never take on the responsibilities of an employer.
What if the caregiver is not the right fit?
Tell your care coordinator and we will make a change. Fit matters as much as skill, and no one should feel stuck with a match that is not working.
Do you work with VA social workers directly?
Yes. As a Community Care Network provider we coordinate authorizations, documentation and scheduling with your VA team so the family does not have to chase the paperwork.
